I wonder what it was like before we had words,
words that now guide us through our actions
but then, just actions.
Would you laugh at things I did,
not things I said
like now when your eyes squint and your face lifts.
Something tells me that I
would still feel more loved than I could realize
Even without the verbs, and the pronouns,
That slide from your lips,
and remind me of my place
in this world of words.
