First Things First

Before I did anything else for our condo, I set up my new bookshelf. I have been waiting for my own bookshelf for years, ever since I received my first novel "Mandy" by Julie Andrews for Christmas. I didn't want it to rest on the family library shelves, because those books eventually ended up tattered and worn. I wanted my own shelves for my own books.

Kevin gave me the Ikea Expedit bookshelf for Christmas, and finally after years of collecting, I almost have enough books to fill the shelves.

My mom always taught me that a well-decorated home is one filled with books.

Hear hear.

I have been wanting one of those bookshelves, but I wasn't sure if it was that great! yours looks really cute, but I would use mine for less formal things like baby toys...might just get it.

I just found your blog, and I love it! I completely agree with you about the bookshelves. My dream is to one day have walls and walls of beautiful books. My family are the same as yours; they don't appreciate the beauty of the books themselves. ;) Love your shelves!

I LOVE bookshelves too! In my dream home, there's a library with floor to ceiling bookshelves like in Beauty and the Beast. ;)

Love your bookshelf! Mine has too many books to have cute knickknacks in there though... in fact I filled up the huge built in one we have at our house, so I need to buy another one! (And we even have a separate one for school stuff and other random books).

I have a problem buying a lot of books around my birthday and christmas?

Our goal is to have built in bookshelves in every room of our house someday.

Yours looks great!

How cute that you have the book "Mandy"!

I love that you put not just books on your shelf (does that make sense?). The candlesticks are definitely going in my inspiration folder...

I love Mandy. I loved that little stone house and how she tried to make it her own. So magical. That is such a lovely book! Thanks for reminding me of it. I'll have to go find it on my overflowing bookshelves!
