I am done with my Christmas shopping.
Usually I try to do it before Thanksgiving, but October 6th is a new record for me. Since my birthday is in December and this year my graduation as well, I wanted to be able to enjoy the entire month without having to think about Christmas shopping, and since I already knew what I wanted to get Kevin and all of my sisters, it wasn't too hard this year.
Kevin asked me for a wish list and laughed when I sent it to him yesterday. It used to be full of clothes and shoes - but now it is full of this:
(Can someone, anyone tell me where I can find a rug like this?)
My mom warned me that when you get married you stop caring so much about what you wear and start caring more about what your house looks like... She was spot on. Any other newly marrieds dealing with this?

in love with those pillows. by the looks of things your new house is going to look adorable.
Yes x a thousand! (It's so nice to share newlywed life with other bloggers who are experiencing the same things my husband and I are.) This Christmas, I asked for things like an apron, a DVD rack, and a Kitchenaid mixer.
I love clothes, don't get me wrong, but now I'm responsible for making a home with my husband.
And look at you, I've got ideas about what I want to get others, but you, my friend, are wonder woman. I can't believe you're done shopping already. It'll make your December a little less hectic, I hope.
yes! try a lot of diy projects. you can make pillows for super cheap and they're pretty easy. watch out for rugs though, they are super expensive! {look for sales at Anthropologie}
Yes, it is so true! You switch your shopping trips from clothing to pottery barn.
Not newly married anymore (it's been eight years now... wow!) but I am so all about the house and making it a lovely place to spend my days. When we got our new washer and dryer in January (FRONT LOADING!) I was in laundry heaven. Now I'm looking for a new rug for the living room and some stylish drapes to match...
Seriously can't believe you've finished your Christmas shopping! I'm inspired to start TODAY!
Completely...I never knew I could want kitchen gadgets and decorative pillows so badly. I love your list! And all of it's super affordable too. I'm sure your house is aboslutely adorable!
absolutely! all of a sudden all i care about is making sure our apartment's in order... i went from wanting jcrew blouses to window shopping at potterybarn.com.
i love your wish list!
yup. totally the same way. Here in Europe all the souvenir things I want are stuff that would "look good in our house" and even Mitch just likes to find things that would be "perfect on the bookshelves" of the dream library he is going to build in our house one day.
Those pillows rock.
Not even a newlywed, but totally am the same way.
Wait til you have a kid...then your desire to shop for yourself pretty much goes out the window!
loving those pillows. and seriously, you are done!? you're such a rockstar.
and i have to thank you for your recent comment. you couldn't have said anything more appreciated (or needed) on monday. so thanks, and please know that the feeling is mutual.
HA! Oh yes..also worrying more about how my blog looks! Ive already told him I want new bedding!
SHUT UP!
where does this come from???
not even kidding, i am obsessed.
i think i may be getting wainscotting for my birthday
haha
i'm not newly married but i will say this...once you do a little w/the house you wanna do a LOT! it's like the clothing addiction transfers to home goods!!
love your list!!
xoxo,
carrie
wow, I'm very impressed. Christmas shopping done ALREADY? that must feel so good!
You have always been the best Christmas shopper. I'm so impressed! And I am dying over those pillows....gorgeous.
I need to get married quick! My love of clothes dominates my paychecks. But I have a good feeling that your home one day will be lovely. In fact knowing you, I know it will be.
PS. Thank you for the sweet and considerate comment! I texted you, but I'm not sure if you got a new number after getting married. Either way, you're such a sweetheart. Luckily I got sick right as my parents flew into town so I've been well taken care of, but I would love to see you soon when you're not busy! Or at least "run into you" sometime on campus to catch up! Looks like married life is beautiful and as if you weren't pretty enough before, you look so stunning in all your pictures it's not even funny. Being married must make you glow too!
wow, congrats, i think my earliest record was two weeks before christmas!
i am not even married yet and i feel ya! i love making our house homey.
this post took the words right from me. Lately all i can think about is interior design and what i want next for my home. so who cares about what i look like, i have a home to make look good now :)
