October

I feel like the blog world is filled with people who love fall. Everywhere I read of new fall recipes, ideas for fall outfits, and love for the changing leaves, crisper air, and Halloween. (I won't lie, Halloween is my least favorite holiday - and it's not even close.)

For awhile I tried to convince myself that fall isn't so bad, and tried out these new fall outfits (still too hot for them in Utah), tried to enjoy the crisp air and the falling leaves, and tried to make myself believe that this season change is good.

However, what fall really means to me is school, which means not seeing Kevin, ever. I don't really know of anyone busier than Kevin, and I will spare the details on his daily events. Needless to say, I am missing the warm summer when we lived in our bare feet and ate popsicles for breakfast and lunch, and went to the park in the middle of the day and read whatever books we chose. I miss the thrill of planning the wedding this summer, and counting down the days to it. This summer was the best of my life, and I am so sad that it is gone now.

But when Kevin brought this little guy home from the grocery store last night I had to smile. He said we needed a little bit of fall spirit in our home and he thought I wouldn't mind such a small pumpkin.

We named him Thumpkin. (Inspired by this scene).

If you can't beat em, join em.

Welcome fall.

I remember this feeling well, the fall after our summer wedding. Everything big and wonderful was happening that summer and I'd looked forward to it for so long. When it was all over, autumn came and we went back to work and I just felt... lost really. It took a while to adjust, but I remember our first Thanksgiving dinner in our new apartment as being absolutely wonderful.

Make the most of these early days of marriage. I love how Kevin brought you a little pumpkin to help you enjoy fall a bit more... And that you named it! Too cute.

I agree that this last summer was the best (I too planned and counted the days til our wedding). That thrill will never be back, and it is sad. I knew it was going to be hard, and it is, but I actually enjoy the part of life that is now. I'm actually realizing daily how much more my husband knows about me - much more of the little details than I had thought he knew; and I enjoy finding out these things!

... I feel this way more about summer. I mean I get excited to not be cold and stuff... but really it all jsu treminds me of being hot and I really don't like that.

So I am one of those people fallin over myself at the coming of fall. Seriously. So. Excited.

Plus it's not as cold as winter. IT'S GOING TO BE COLD AND NOT HOT SOON! yayyy!!!

wow I really went against you in this comment ;) But I understand why you don't like fall too. I didn't have a wedding to plan this summer after all!

I totally have been having the same feelings about everyone blogging about fall and how much they love it! I like fall, but not as much as spring and summer! That little 'Thumpkin' is cute! Haha.

aw, I'm really sad that you and Kevin don't get to see each other as much. I understand the feeling of missing the summer and being able to do anything you could possibly want (including reading books you aren't forced to read) ahhh missing summer now.
