eternal

i would like to live in a world of beauty.
no tests, no comparisons.
just a place where we are able to express how we feel,
a place where everyone we have ever loved,
we always love.

where friendships live for years,
and people matter more than things.
a place where happiness is not a feeling,
but rather a state of being.
an eternal identity.

i would like to live in a place that nurtures creativity.
where science and structure are second to seasons,
words, light, color, air, clean and smooth.
where i can be me,
and you can be you,

and there will be no end
to us.

His Birthday

In the midst of all of the engagement excitement,
I neglected to post about Kevin's birthday.
We went to Chili's for dinner (his request ?)
Then Comedy Sportz.
In between that and the proposal,
I built a fort in my living room and filled it with:
His presents,
Popcorn,
Cupcakes,
My laptop with ESPN pulled up,
and I turned on March Madness.

I have never seen him so happy.
(Just a suggestion to you fellow girls who need birthday suggestions)
He loved it.

p.s. you guys are the nicest. thanks for the congratulations!

Ring

I designed the ring myself,
modeled after my favorite 1930's vintage cuts.
There is a slightly colored, oval center stone,
and a double halo around the stone.

I love the ring,
but even more -
I love the boy who gave me it.

ahem

First of all, thanks for the congratulations!
You are so sweet, and we are so excited to be engaged!

Second, Shabby Apple is having an awesome trunk show at Riverwoods in Provo UT on Saturday.
If you love their dresses but want to try them on before you buy them, this is perfect for you.
And as a fun promo - if you put this poster on your blog and advertise it, you will be entered into a raffle to win a free dress.
(even if you are not in Utah you can blog about it and we will send you the dress if you win)
If you do it, either email me at mmadson@shabbyapple.com, or post the link on our facebook page.
And if you are in Utah, come! It's going to be great.

Steps

I am dangerously obsessed with this tea-set lamp I found in Anthropologie.
Did you know they have the best Anthropologie in Caesar's Palace in the Forum Shops?
Ever since I have been thinking about re-creating this lamp for a nursery.
Vintage china and a new lamp-shade.
But the issue is,
In order to have a nursery,
I would need a child.
In order to have a child,
I would need to be pregnant.
In order to be pregnant I would need to be married.

I guess I will just stare at this lamp for a few more years.

vegas

I generally do not like this city,
but with him,
it has been much more enjoyable.

anthropologie finds,
h&m,
chipotle.

cheering for the cougs,
coming home after we lost,
eating chips and salsa.

playing ghost in the car,
holding hands around the strip,
taking turns carrying my purchases,

almost makes this city beautiful.

how i feel today

At lunchtime I bought a huge orange
The size of it made us all laugh.
I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave—
They got quarters and I had a half.

And that orange it made me so happy,
As ordinary things often do
Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park
This is peace and contentment. It’s new.

The rest of the day was quite easy.
I did all my jobs on my list
And enjoyed them and had some time over.
I love you. I’m glad I exist.
